Founder

Luc Courchene, founder of Courchene Development Corporation has been building for over 50 years. With his inspiring history of one man in search of the American dream, he has instilled the values of hard work and determination into every facet of the Courchene company.

In 1950, Luc moved to the United States and settled in Royal Oak, Michigan. With a strong desire for success and an interest in home construction, Luc became a subcontractor of single family residences.

At the end of 1952, Luc began building his own first home. The home sold before completion and marked the beginning of his new career. In 1956, Luc and his wife Germaine moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to a climate suitable for building year round.

Over the next two decades, Luc became the proud father of four children, Diane, Janet, Lynne and Paul. During this time he worked on many joint construction efforts including the development of a large FHA single-family home project in Pompano Beach; a series of intracoastal and oceanfront condominiums in Hillsborough Beach and along Fort Lauderdale's beaches, as well as several strip shopping centers, warehouses and garden apartment developments. Luc often brought the children along to job sites, hoping to teach them the value of his trade.

In 1979, Luc founded Courchene Development Corporation for his children. Today, while enjoying retirement and occasional project consulting, he watches the company enjoy success in the upper echelon of custom home building. Luc is proud to have his family follow in his footsteps and continue the Courchene legacy of superior craftsmanship.
